About the Trust
The Trust administers a number of Restoration and Mitigation funds for the purposes of providing for or assisting in a range of environmental, cultural and social projects. The funds will provide for the following communities: Motiti Island; Coastal Te Arawa; Tauranga Moana and the coastal volunteer community of the Bay of Plenty. This includes a contestable fund that provides for annual research and education scholarships for the duration of the consents.
In fulfilling this purpose, the Trust is responsible for reporting directly to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
It also involves two advisory groups - an Independent Technical Advisory Group (ITAG) and Kaitiakitanga Reference Group (KRG).
